Testing for SIBO involves taking breath samples in the comfort of your home.
You will be provided with a take home kit with everything you need to complete the test.
Contained in the kit are detailed instructions and a link to a video on how to do the breath testing.
The test begins by starving any bacteria living in the small intestine of their food source through particular dietary changes that are outlined in the kit.
You then fast from 8pm to 8am.
At 8am you take a baseline breath sample with the easy to use breath kit provided. Following ingestion of the lactulose solution you will then take breath samples every 20 minutes over a 3 hour period.
We have found most clients prefer to do the dietary preparation on Friday and do the breath testing on Saturday.
Results are ready 5 days after the lab receives your samples.
Should you return a positive result you will need to consult with your practitioner regarding the SIBO treatment protocol that involves both dietary change and specialised supplement support.
