Digestive Relief

"You are what you eat AND what you digest"

If you dig deep enough and  you know where to look, there is always a reason behind bloating, gas, constipation, heart burn, IBS or other digestive comfort.

The tricky bit is that people try to solve this for themselves.  This ad-hock approach unfortunately does not often yield long lasting results.

The answer can often be a combination of factors including:

  • Gut health and digestive function

  • Nutrition

  • Parasites/Yeasts

Gut health and digestive function

Gut health is one of the hottest trending topics at the moment because of the large volume of research linking the gut to your overall health.

Your large intestine, a key part of your digestive system, is home to trillions of bacteria that are collectively known as the gut microbiome.  Research shows that certain species of bacteria within the microbiome are responsible for 70% of your immune system and the production of 90% of your serotonin, the chemical that helps us to feel happy and good about life!

If you suffer from digestive problems like bloating, gas, constipation, heart burn, reflux or diarrhoea it indicates an imbalance not just in your gut but in your digestive system as a whole.

Symptoms can range from mildly uncomfortable to down right embarrassing when your stomach gurgles in the middle of a meeting or you have to rush to the loo due to your IBS.  Some clients are so affected by their condition that they only agree to social outings if they know there is a toilet close by!

Your entire digestive system, including the microbiome in your large intestine is affected by stress, the food that you eat, as well as consumption of alcohol, antibotic use and the contraceptive pill.

If you've had food poisoning, even if was 15 years ago, it could still be affecting you today but to an imbalance in both the microbiome and gut lining.

Nutrition

Just because you have a "healthy" diet does not mean that it's healthy for you per se.  Plenty of seemingly healthy foods can be the primary cause of your bloating, gas, constipation, IBS and digestive discomfort.

Identifying whether your nutrition is at the bottom of your digestive concerns is another step in the right direction to getting relief.

How do you get relief?

We have seen 1,000's of clients who are frustrated and desperate for a solution. Most have tried taking an off the shelf probiotic in the hopes that it will be the magic cure to their digestive problems. Unfortunately it isn't.  In some cases taking a probiotic as the first step in treatment creates more discomfort!

The key to getting relief from your digestive symptoms is detailed testing.  Testing will help reveal the CAUSE of your digestive problems and a direct pathway to your recovery.

What type of test should I have?
It actually depends on your unique signs and symptoms.

We offer a wide variety of tests that enable our naturopaths to identify the primary cause behind your unique mix of symptoms.

For some people the cause will be related to food intolerances, for others it's a disturbance in gut flora due to that trip to Mexico a few years ago that needs to be addressed, for someone else it's a lack of stomach acid.

Our naturopaths have over 15 years experience in helping people get relief from their bloating and digestive problems. Many of our clients see dramatic results within the first 2-6 weeks of starting our program.
